TL;DR - Iterate Mode in 30 Seconds

  • • Iterate uses your previous image as a starting point for the next generation
  • • Adjust prompts, styles, or settings while keeping the core composition
  • • Perfect for fine-tuning details without starting from scratch
  • • Uses the same points as a normal generation of that model

What is Iterate Mode?

Iterate Mode is one of the most powerful features in PinkNinjasART. Instead of generating from scratch each time, it uses your previous image as a reference point — allowing you to make incremental improvements while preserving what already works.

Think of it like sculpting: rather than throwing away your clay and starting over, you're refining and shaping what you've already created.

Iterate Mode helps you:

Refine details you like
Keep consistent composition
Explore style variations
Fix specific elements

How to Use Iterate Mode

1

Generate Your Base Image

Start by generating an image using your prompt. This will become the foundation for your iterations.

2

Enable Iterate Mode in Controls

In the Controls panel (right side), you'll find an "Iterate" checkbox. Enable it to use your current output image as the base for your next generation. The checkbox only appears when you have a generated image and are using a model that supports iteration (Nano Banana models).

3

Modify Your Prompt

Add details, change styles, or describe specific changes you want. The AI will use your base image as a guide while applying your new instructions.

4

Generate & Repeat

Click Generate to create your iteration. You can iterate on iterations — building layer upon layer of refinements.

Example Workflow

v1
"A cozy cabin in a snowy forest"
Initial generation — good composition but lighting is flat
v2
"A cozy cabin in a snowy forest with warm golden light from the windows, dramatic sunset sky"
Iterate — adds lighting details, keeps cabin composition
v3
"...add smoke from chimney, footprints in snow leading to door"
Final iteration — perfect! Save to favorites

Best Practices

Do This

  • Make small, incremental changes to your prompt
  • Keep the original prompt elements you liked
  • Add specific details about what to change
  • Use descriptive language for adjustments
  • Save promising iterations before continuing

Avoid This

  • Completely changing the prompt subject
  • Expecting dramatic composition changes
  • Overloading with too many changes at once
  • Iterating on a weak base image
  • Forgetting to save good intermediate results

Pro Tips

💡 Use Regular Nano Banana for Iterations

Since you're making refinements, use Nano Banana (100 pts) for iterations. Switch to Nano Banana Pro only for your final generation.

⚠️ Resolution note: Regular Nano Banana outputs at 1K resolution. If your original image was higher resolution, iterating will reduce its quality. For final results, upscale to 2K or 4K using Nano Banana Pro's resolution settings.

🎯 Be Specific About Changes

Instead of "make it better", say "increase contrast, add more vibrant sunset colors to the sky, make the cabin windows glow brighter".

🔀 Combine with Reference Images

For maximum control, use both Iterate Mode and a reference image together. This gives the AI strong guidance on both composition and style.

📝 Track Your Prompt Evolution

Keep notes on what prompt changes improved your results. This helps you develop a personal library of effective modification techniques.
